Hi, I’m Mick Miles, and I write stories about Hawai‘i. I’m also a freelancer. Basically, I really like writing.

I was lucky enough to have grown up in Maui, in a town called Kīhei, on the south shore. Everything I know about anything, I owe to Maui.

I am a proud graduate of University of Hawai‘i. It was there that I learned two things: setting doesn’t really matter to a story; and the literary world needs more Hawai‘i.

Eventually, I had to leave Maui to see what else the world could teach me, and to learn perspective from being, well, away from the paradise that raised me.

Now, It’s all I can do to check in every now and then, write to Maui, see how things are, and to tell the story.

So please: Read a story! Check out a review! If you’re an agent for a publishing house and you would like to publish my books, let’s talk. I’m extremely happy you came to my site, either way. Oh, and one last thing, because I think it’s fun: click the black Maui icon on the bottom of the page to go home.

Thanks, ah?

My Style

That’s for someone else to say, right? My hope is that the takeaway is something juicy, colorful, and alive with musicality. Everyday island life presented with attempted humor, wit, and absurdity. The aim is to always be authentic, with the occasional Hawaiian pidgin-English to paint realistic portraits of the characters, and to give a true sense of place.
